Why do we love sailboats; the sun, the water, the wind blowing through your hair, maybe some dolphins swimming nearby… and if you’re really lucky, a crew that is steering the boat for you. Or, if you like to sail for yourself, a crew to prepare dinner for you when you arrive on shore. 10. M5 – 50 millions 

This sailboat was originally launched as Mirabella V, but its new owner, Rodney Lewis, renamed it M5. With a length of 254.6 feet, it is the largest single mast yacht ever built. Imagine the strength of the masts, to retain these huge sails.

9. Vertigo – 50 millions 

Like the M5, the Vertigo has a value of around 50 million euros. Despite its size, the yacht is sailing, with a maximum speed of 20 knots. It has a gym, a Jacuzzi, a room for eleven crew members, and five guest cabins that can accommodate up to twelve people.

8. Pilar Rossi – 65 millions 

Believe it or not, this 64-meter-long sailboat started as a motor yacht in the late 1980s, when it was bought by Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet. His uncle, naval architect Mauricio Piquet, transformed the Pilar Rossi into a sail trimaran by adding stabilisers and two masts, making it a unique sailboat!

7. Sybaris – 70 millions 

An elegant sailboat built by Perini Navi; the interior was also designed by Perini Navi. Twelve guests can stay in this six-cabin sailboat, as well as eleven crew members to make the travel experience even more luxurious.

6. Ahimsa – 80 millions 

Unlike most sailboats on this list, the Ahimsa has only one mast; with an amazing length of 83 meters. A spectacular view with the jib that has been artistically decorated by Magne Furuholmen. It is said that the asset of Ahimsa lies in the direction and manoeuvrability.

5. AQuiJo – 85 millions 

One of the newest ships on this list; the AQuiJo was built in 2016 by Oceanco and Vitters. It is renowned for its elegant and comfortable interior design, and its builders also claim that it is a “high performance sailing machine”.

4. Athena – 95 millions 

A schooner of three masts with 2,500 square meters of sail and a cruising speed of 16 knots, the Athena was built by the shipyard Royal Huisman for James Clark in 2004. It includes a cinema room, a Jacuzzi and a spectacular library.

3. Sea Cloud – 100 millions 

In addition to being luxurious and large, this vessel has historical value as it was built in 1931 and chartered by the US Armed Forces during the Second World War under the name of Hussar V. It has been restored to its original beauty and can hold 34 passengers and 60 crew members.

2. Eos – 150 millions 

The EOS is one of the largest sailboats on earth with an amazing 93 meters – including its long bowsprit. It can carry up to 16 passengers plus crew and asked for three years of construction. In 2012, Eos caught fire while owner Barry Diller and his wife were on land in Norway. No one was injured, but the fire caused serious damage to the upper deck.

1. Maltese Falcon – 150 millions 

Built by Perini Navi Yachts, this sailboat is incredibly luxurious with a top speed of 18 knots. It was built for Tom Perks who once suggested in an interview that it cost more than 150 million euros, but less than 300 million euros. The vessel is 289 feet long, with three rotating masts with 15 sails, or 2,400 square meters of sail area. It includes a gym, its own submarine and a jacuzzi on the deck with cinema.
